The Unknown

The unknown... It’s a tough place to be, but it is a place that has built trust between me and the Lord. Over the past three years, the Lord has taken me into unknown waters. It has been a season that reminds me of Luke 8:22-25. Jesus got into a boat, telling His disciples to cross over to the other side. While crossing over, a storm came up. Jesus was resting in the boat, but the disciples woke Him, fearful of the stormy waters. He got up, calmed the storm, and they crossed over to the other side of the lake. Simple, right?...

Well... God also told me to get into the boat when He called me to leave my college and the plans I had designed for my life. As I entered a season of the unknown, the Lord told me I would “cross over”. I hung onto that word even when the storms came. I had chances to fear, as the disciples did. I had left my future behind. The ambitions I had for my life were on the shore behind me. I had moments where fear and worry came. In those moments, I learned to rest at the feet of Jesus. God showed me His character. I realized: how could I not trust the one who loves me endlessly? He is a good Father, and good fathers would not leave their children penniless, purposeless, or hopeless. He is faithful, and we will always cross over!

He knows the end from the beginning. He knows exactly where you’re headed and what path you must take. It is learning to rest in Him. Allowing Him to be God and you to simply be the human BE-ing that you are.

In the past, I avoided uncomfortable situations. Not knowing... not being able to plan... that is uncomfortable. The truth is though, it is a season that is vital. If you don’t learn to trust God in the unknown, then when He gives you the vision for your next season, how are you going to trust Him to get you there? The season of resting in the boat (the unknown) now appears easy and even appealing compared to stepping out to walk on the water (Like Peter - Matthew 14:28-29). I will share on that journey in another blog :D

Thanks for joining me to Bloom more with Grace. Have a blessed week, friend!
